Juan Domingo Beckmann, eleventh-generation head of the Cuervo family, founded Maestro Dobel in 2008 with master tequileros Marco Anguiano and Luis Yerenas at La Rojeña, NOM 1122, from 100% blue Weber agave off a single family estate in the volcanic lowlands and spring water from the aquifers beneath the Tequila volcano. The Reposado is that agave cooked, double-distilled, rested in European oak for the reposado term, and bottled at 40% ABV in the embossed apothecary-style bottle with the maestro's signature. Expect a nose of cooked agave, vanilla, and caramel with a European-oak spice, opening into a smooth, rounded, gently sweet palate of agave, honey, and baking spice with a warm, clean finish.
