Mijenta Anejo Gran Reserva Tequila
Mijenta's Gran Reserva is aged more than eighteen months in four different woods — American white oak, French oak, French acacia, and cherry — with just 360 cases in the first batch, from the first B Corp tequila. The name comes from mi gente — my people — and the brand launched in 2020 out of Arandas, in the southern Los Altos highlands, with Ana María Romero Mena, one of Mexico's most respected maestras tequileras, building every expression. The Añejo Gran Reserva is a limited quantity of the award-winning Blanco — 100% chemical-free Arandas agave, autoclave-cooked, stainless-distilled — set aside in the cellar, aged past eighteen months in the four casks, blended, and bottled at 40% ABV, additive-free; Drinkhacker notes production moved back to NOM 1499 in late 2025 and reviewed both versions. Drinkhacker: quiet and soft, fruity with fresh apple, balanced with vanilla and caramel, peppery agave emerging into a lightly herbaceous greenery, then pepper and spice leading to a surprisingly savory mid-palate. Expect apple, vanilla, caramel, and cherry-wood fruit with acacia florals and a savory, peppered finish. Honest note, and a Distiller taster says it: the price jump from the Reposado doesn't buy a proportional jump in complexity — this is the collector's Mijenta, elegant and limited, for the drinker who wants Romero's most exclusive blend. Neat, in a copita, slowly. My people, gran reserva.
