Mizu Saga Barley Shochu is a 750ml, 35% ABV Japanese shochu from Munemasa Shuzo in Saga Prefecture on the island of Kyushu, the heartland of shochu. It is made from 100% barley with white koji, distilled once in a pot still and bottled at a higher proof than most shochu for cocktail versatility.
Delicate, earthy and lively, it shows a floral, sake-like aroma with banana bread and fresh grain, a buttery texture, and drinks like a young whisky with hints of ripe melon and vanilla custard. Sip it neat, on the rocks or with soda the Japanese way, or use it in place of vodka or whisky in cocktails.
