Mythology Distilling Needle Pig Gin comes from Mythology Distillery in Denver, Colorado, where every bottle carries a different "spirit animal"; this one is the needle pig, a porcupine. It is a contemporary dry gin made with just six natural botanicals: Italian juniper, coriander seed, orris root, grapefruit peel, star anise and sage, bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof).
Drinkhacker rated it a B+ (8.5/10), describing a dry nose of pine needles, rose water and candied citrus, a palate of tree sap, fleshy citrus, black licorice and cinnamon sugar, and a lemony, juniper-forward finish, and called it a solid, well-constructed gin suited to Martinis. The distillery notes sage spice and sweet pine on the nose and a burst of grapefruit, licorice and pine on the palate. It is a great Martini gin and a lively G&T with a grapefruit twist and a sage leaf.
