Orphan Barrel Fable & Folly 14 Year Whiskey is a farewell blend from Diageo's Orphan Barrel project, the series that rescued forgotten stocks of old whiskey from warehouses across Kentucky and released them one by one. When the master blender discovered the last remaining stores of earlier Orphan Barrel releases, he married the leftover Barterhouse, Forged Oak and various Rhetoric bourbons with aged rye and corn whiskies into a single fourteen-year-old blend, bottled at 90 proof.
Fable & Folly pays homage to the original releases while having a profile all its own. Orphan Barrel describes a burst of spice from the aged rye that warms into the rich, creamy character of the orphaned bourbons, with sweet notes of syrup and fruit, balancing age and flavor. Fourteen years of Kentucky maturation show in the depth of oak, caramel and dried fruit, and the rye keeps it lively. Like every Orphan Barrel release it comes in an antique-styled bottle and was produced once, so what is on the shelf is all there will ever be.
