Plymouth Sloe Gin is made at the Black Friars Distillery in Plymouth, England, by steeping wild sloe berries in Plymouth Gin with soft Dartmoor water and sugar for about four months. The distillery keeps the sugar deliberately low to preserve the berries' natural fruit and acidity, and it is bottled at 26% ABV (52 proof).
Plymouth describes mellow sloe berries, sweet cherry and a hint of almond on the nose, a smooth, fruity, full-bodied palate with balanced sweetness and acidity, and a long, fresh, fruity finish. 88 Bamboo called it a really delicious and well-rounded sloe gin, finding plum, raisin and vanilla on the nose, blackberry, sour plum and licorice with wintry spices on the palate, and recommending it neat or in a Sloe Gin Fizz.
