Rum-Bar Gold is Worthy Park's aged entry — a four-year, 100% pot-still Jamaican that Rum Runner Labs calls a banana bomb. Worthy Park Estate in the St. Catherine hills of Jamaica has grown cane since 1670 and made rum since 1741; it stopped in 1962 amid a postwar glut and, after the Clarke family built a state-of-the-art distillery in 2005, relaunched in 2007 with the Rum-Bar range, expanding from the Overproof to Gold, Silver, and beyond. Gold is molasses from the estate's own cane, fermented and distilled on the 18,000-liter Forsyth double-retort copper pot still, aged four years in ex-bourbon oak in the Jamaican heat, and bottled at 40% ABV with no additives. Worthy Park's house style is banana-forward — more fruit than Hampden's wildness, more funk than Appleton's polish — and four tropical years round it: expect a nose of ripe and caramelized banana, vanilla, and light oak with a whisper of the estate's ester funk, opening into a smooth, medium-bodied palate of banana, toffee, coconut, and gentle spice, finishing warm and moderately long.
