Shackleton Blended Malt Scotch Whisky
Shackleton is a blended malt inspired by one of the great whisky stories: in 2007, three crates of Mackinlay's Rare Old Highland Malt were found frozen beneath the hut Sir Ernest Shackleton's 1907 Antarctic expedition left behind. Master blender Richard Paterson of Whyte & Mackay analyzed the century-old whisky and recreated it, and Shackleton is the everyday version of that replica, a marriage of Highland single malts.
Bottled at 80 proof, it offers buttery vanilla, toffee apple, brioche with Manuka honey and hints of Old English marmalade on the nose, followed by cinnamon spice, crushed apple, banana bread and ginger cake, then a palate led by treacle toffee, molasses, Demerara sugar and sweet sultana with dark dried fruit and glazed pineapple, finishing smooth and gently spiced.
