La Ladera 2021 is an Ocho Extra Añejo from a single highland field — the hillside — harvested in 2021 and aged more than three years in ex-American whiskey barrels, from the brand that invented vintage-dated tequila. Carlos Camarena, the third-generation tequilero of La Alteña, created Ocho in 2008 with the late Tomas Estes on the wine-world idea that agave tastes of where it grows; every bottle names the rancho, the harvest year, and the elevation, and it's made at NOM 1474 in Arandas from 100% highland blue Weber agave, slow-cooked in stone ovens, crushed by tahona, fermented with wild yeast in open wooden vats, and double-distilled in copper. La Ladera 2021 is aged a minimum of three years in ex-American oak whiskey barrels and bottled at 40% ABV, additive-free; check your bottle for the field's elevation and notes. The house extra añejo profile: cherries, red fruit, oak, cinnamon, and spice on the nose, then sweetness, toasted oak, anise, almond, herbs, black pepper, and minerality.
