Volcán de Mi Tierra is Moët Hennessy's tequila — a 50/50 partnership with the Gallardo family of Jalisco, born when Juan Gallardo asked LVMH's drinks chief why they didn't have one — made at Agrotequilera de Jalisco, NOM 1523, a distillery built for it at the foot of the Tequila volcano in 2017, with the profile created by maestra Ana María Romero Mena. The Blanco is 100% seven-to-eight-year blue Weber agave from both terroirs — lowland piñas slow-roasted in masonry ovens, highland in autoclaves — crushed by tahona and roller mill, fermented with champagne and rum yeasts in wood and stainless, double-distilled, rested thirty days, and bottled at 40% ABV in the squat bottle with the volcano pressed into its base, additive-free — the house is explicit that it uses no abocantes. Travel Distilled: smooth and fiery, pepper turning to jalapeño, lowland citrus and spice with highland peach and pineapple — a blanco for sipping, not just mixing.
