Wolves Signature Blend Rye Whiskey & Hop Flavored Whiskey is the retail release of the whiskey that defines Wolves, the California luxury whiskey house founded in 2015 by Undefeated co-founder James Bond and designer Jon Buscemi, with master distiller Marko Karakasevic of Charbay behind the stills. Wolves built its name on an unusual idea: distilling craft beer into whiskey and blending it with aged rye.
This variation of the signature blend leans heavier on seven- and six-year-old rye whiskeys, married with two beer distillates from Karakasevic's cellar: a whiskey distilled from stout and aged nine years in used French oak, and one distilled from a California pale ale and aged seven years in French oak. Bottled at 103 proof, it shows honeysuckle, citrus, hops, milk chocolate, black cherry and warm vanilla on the nose, tangerine, dark chocolate, hops, oak, citrus and nutmeg on the palate, and a long, warm finish with rising spice. The hop character is subtle and savory rather than bitter, and the result tastes like nothing else. Wolves releases come in heavy, art-directed packaging and are produced in small runs.
