Single Estate Reserve is the first rum Worthy Park ever bottled and exported under its own name — estate distilled, aged, blended, and bottled, as the label states — and Rum Revelations calls it a good daily sipper. Worthy Park Estate in the St. Catherine hills of Jamaica has grown cane since 1670 and made rum since the 1740s; it stopped in 1962 amid a postwar glut and, after the Clarke family built a modern distillery in 2005, sold bulk rum to independent bottlers like Velier while its own stocks aged — until this bottle showcased at London Rumfest in 2017. It's 100% pot-still rum from estate molasses, distilled on the Forsyth double-retort still, a blend of rums aged six to ten years in ex-bourbon oak on the estate, and bottled at 45% ABV with no additives. The Fat Rum Pirate found chocolate, toffee, and caramel with stewed English breakfast tea, a hint of malt whisky, banana, and coconut — more along the lines of an aged Appleton than a Hampden, a lot more refined than the Rum-Bar Overproof, not aggressive. The Rum Robin calls the Rum-Bar range absolutely wonderful and this the estate's standard-bearer. Expect the Worthy Park signature — caramelized banana, tropical fruit, gentle funk — matured into something rounded and oaky with real texture. Honest note: it's the polished daily pour; the 2006 twelve-year is the one Rum Revelations calls fantastic.
