Jose Cuervo Reserva De La Familia Reposado Tequila
Reserva de la Familia Reposado is the family reserve aged in a mix of heavily charred American oak, lightly charred American oak, and lightly charred French oak — the Extra Añejo's barrel program, at reposado length. Reserva de la Familia is the Cuervo family's private line, made apart from the rest of the house at La Rojeña, NOM 1122 — the oldest working distillery in the Americas — in copper pot stills rather than columns, from eight-to-ten-year organic agave grown in the estate's richest volcanic soil, using only the inner heart, roasted seventy-two hours in masonry ovens; the Extra Añejo launched in 1995, and the Reposado debuted in 2020 for the line's 25th anniversary. It's aged in the three-barrel combination 88 Bamboo documents, blended by master distiller Alex Coronado, and hand-labeled and wax-sealed at 40% ABV, transitioning to certified organic. Expect a nose of cooked agave, vanilla, and caramel with a toasted-oak spice, opening into a rich, rounded palate of agave, honey, cinnamon, and the char's toffee with a long, warm finish — more body than any other Cuervo reposado by a wide margin. Honest note: the smooth, sweet end of premium reposado, and the bottle that makes the case for the whole line at a fraction of the Extra Añejo's price. Neat, on a big cube, or the best reposado Old Fashioned in the house. The family's reserve, rested.
