Lobos 1707 Extra Anejo Tequila
Forbes named Lobos 1707 Extra Añejo one of the five best tequilas in the world — three years in American oak, then Pedro Ximénez sherry casks through a solera, LeBron James' top bottle. Diego Osorio, a filmmaker descended from a 1707 Spanish ancestor of the same name, launched Lobos in 2020 with CEO Dia Simms and early backing from James, Maverick Carter, Anthony Davis, and Draymond Green; it's made at Compañía Tequilera de Arandas, NOM 1460, in the Los Altos highlands, with a Spanish sherry master of fifty years and a Mexican tequila master working the finish, and the brand states zero color or flavor additives. The Extra Añejo is 100% highland blue Weber agave, double-distilled in copper, aged three years in American white oak, finished in the brand's PX wine barrels from Spain by the solera method, and bottled at 40% ABV in a premium presentation; it took Best of Class and Gold at the 2025 Bartender Spirits Awards and a Master at the 2022 Tequila and Mezcal Masters. Sip Tequila: rich agave layered with sherry, bright citrus, and warm tobacco on the nose, a polished, complex palate of oak and sherry closing on molasses. Expect a deep amber pour with raisin, fig, dark chocolate, tobacco, and caramel, silky and sweet, with a long, sherried finish. Honest note: a sherry drinker's extra añejo — the sweetest, richest end of the category, built for the whiskey and Cognac crowd more than the agave purist. Neat, in a snifter, after dinner. The wolves, extra aged.
