Introduced in Poland in 1992 and brought to America in 1997, it's named for the composer and made from a single ingredient — seven pounds of Podlasie-region potatoes per bottle — at a distillery in the countryside village of Krzesk in eastern Poland that dates to 1896 and has been owned by the Dorda family since 2003. Everything is farm-to-bottle: local potatoes harvested in season, mashed, fermented, distilled four times in a copper column, filtered, and bottled on the estate, largely by hand, at 40% ABV.
