The Stirling family has farmed Arbikie Estate on the Angus coast near Arbroath for four generations, and the land was first recorded as a farm distillery in 1794, which is where the name comes from. Brothers John, Iain, and David reopened distilling in 2013 in a converted barn a stone's throw from their fields, building the first single-site, field-to-bottle distillery in Scotland — every grain grown on the estate, distilled, matured, and bottled there, with master distiller Kirsty Black, named among the world's top ten female master distillers, running the stills.
