Product Type: Bacanora
Size: 750mL
Region: Mexico
Description: Bacanora, a type of Mexican liquor, was banned for 77 years from 1915 to 1992 due to prohibition. Despite the ban, Bacanora continued to be produced secretly, becoming a symbol of regionalism and identity for the state of Sonora. It was finally legalized in 1992 and received Denomination of Origin status in 2000. Puntagave is the first legally imported 90 proof premium Bacanora in the United States. The Opatas Indians in the Sierra Madre mountains of Sonora, Mexico have been producing small batches of Bacanora for centuries, even before the production of tequila.
