D'Ussé XO Cognac
D'Ussé is the cognac house built around the Château de Cognac, one of the oldest cognac houses in France with a legacy of more than 200 years, where the spirit is aged in the château's cellars in the town of Cognac. The brand is owned by Bacardi and became famous through its partnership with Jay-Z. It was conceived by cellar master Michel Casavecchia, who has spent more than two decades as the curator of the château's eaux-de-vie. D'Ussé XO launched in the United States in May 2014 as the house's prestige blend, built from hand-selected eaux-de-vie aged ten years or more in French oak barrels. It is bottled at 40% ABV. The bottle carries the Cross of Lorraine, the emblem of the Free French during World War II, which the brand adopted as a symbol of honor, courage and perseverance. The house's notes describe ripe berries and apricot layered with hints of dark chocolate and walnut, leading to an exceptionally balanced finish. Pour it neat in a tulip glass or snifter.
