Goalong 5 Year Old Bourbon Cask Finish is a Chinese single malt whisky from Goalong Distillery in Hunan province, one of the first distilleries in mainland China to make malt whisky in the Scottish tradition. It is distilled from malted barley in copper pot stills, matured for five years and finished in ex-bourbon casks, then bottled in a 750ml bottle. Hunan's warm, humid climate speeds up maturation, so five years here delivers more oak influence than the same age in Scotland.
The bourbon cask finish brings vanilla, caramel and coconut over a core of honeyed malt and orchard fruit, with a touch of spice and a smooth, medium-length finish.
