Especia is the spiced rum from Tanduay Distillers of Manila, the Philippine rum producer whose Silver, Gold and Double Rum expressions are aged in ex-bourbon barrels. Especia starts with rum distilled and blended in the Philippines, which is then flavored with what Tanduay describes as a secret mix of spices and tropical fruits, and it is bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof), a full-strength spiced rum rather than a lower-proof spirit drink. It carries no age statement. In the glass it pours a mid-deep golden amber.
