Jung & Wulff Barbados Luxury Rum
Jung & Wulff is Sazerac's single-origin rum series, named for L.E. Jung and Frederick Wulff, New Orleans importers who once owned the Sazerac House and Peychaud's Bitters. Master blender Drew Mayville built each blend from molasses rums sourced in one country, aged up to 15 years, and bottled all three at 43% ABV. The Barbados bottling, No. 3, carries no added sugar, confirmed by a reviewer's hydrometer test, and leans darker and richer than the classic light Bajan style. The Fat Rum Pirate's review found a pronounced caramel nose with charred oak, tobacco, coffee, and a hint of English Breakfast tea; a palate of toffee and caramel with wood spice and a little barrel char; and a fruitier finish with strawberry, toffee, and light oak spice. Try it side by side with the Guyana and Trinidad bottlings. Pour it neat, on a large cube, or in a rum punch or rum old fashioned.
