Tacoma Punk began as a job for an airline. A major carrier asked BroVo Spirits of Woodinville, Washington for an American-made spritz base for its business-class cabins, so BroVo blended equal parts of its unsweetened Orange Curaçao with Amaro #4, the amaro it developed with Tacoma bartender Patrick Haight, and sweetened the mix with a cane syrup that had eucalyptus cooked into it. The airline program never launched, but the tank was too good to dump, so BroVo bottled it in 2019 and named it after Haight, the Tacoma punk. It is a natural menza menza, Italian for half-and-half, and it drinks like one: the round, full orange of the curaçao up front, then the amaro's bitter herbal side, with hibiscus, grapefruit and eucalyptus in the middle and a cayenne heat that builds on the finish. Bottled at 35% ABV. Wine Enthusiast filed it as an unusual take of real interest to anyone who likes fiery flavors.
