Caffo Clementino della Piana is a clementine liqueur from Gruppo Caffo in Limbadi, Calabria, the family distillery founded in 1915 in a region that grows some of the finest citrus in the world. It is made from locally grown clementines from the Piana di Gioia Tauro, whose peels are macerated for an extended period in neutral spirit to extract their intense natural oils and aromas, then blended with sugar and pure water. Bottled at 30% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The taste is bright, sun-ripened clementine, sweeter and softer than orange, with fresh peel oils, a gentle sweetness and a clean, zesty finish. Serve it ice-cold after dinner like a limoncello, top it with prosecco or soda for a Calabrian spritz, add it to a margarita or a Cosmopolitan in place of triple sec, or drizzle it over sorbet.
