Mahina Hawaiian Rum is distilled at Hali'imaile Distilling Company on Maui, one of the handful of craft distilleries working in the Hawaiian Islands. The name is the Hawaiian word for moon, and the brand draws its identity from the Maui moon and the Hale Mahina mountains, known as the House of the Moon, along with the moon's traditional role in Hawaiian farming, fishing, and navigation. The rum is made from raw turbinado sugar and distilled in the distillery's proprietary pot stills, designed to give the wash maximum exposure to the heating elements. It is then blended with island ingredients, including Kona coffee and aromatics of Madagascar vanilla, cocoa, clove, cinnamon, and citrus oils, and brought down to 40% ABV (80 proof) for bottling, all done in Hawaii.
