Stagg Jr Batch 10 126.4 Proof Bourbon Whiskey
Stagg Jr Batch 10 is a 2018 release of Buffalo Trace's barrel-proof, unfiltered bourbon from the years when the label still carried the Jr., before the brand simply became Stagg in 2022, which makes any sealed Jr. bottle a collector's piece in its own right. Batch 10 was the spring 2018 bottling, released at 126.4 proof, 63.2% ABV, one of the lower-proof batches in the Stagg Jr run and widely regarded by bourbon writers and collectors as one of the most balanced of the entire series, the batch many point to when they argue Stagg Jr could stand next to its big brother George T. Stagg. Like every Stagg, it is distilled from Buffalo Trace's low-rye Mash Bill #1, the recipe behind Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare and E.H. Taylor, aged roughly eight to nine years in the distillery's Frankfort rickhouses and bottled straight from the barrel with no chill filtration and nothing added. The house style runs to dense dark cherry, brown sugar and vanilla over heavy oak, with baking spice, cocoa and a long, warm finish that opens up with a few drops of water. This is an original 2018 bottling, not a re-release, in the classic Stagg Jr antler bottle with the handwritten proof on the label, 750ml, and a true collectible for anyone chasing the full Stagg Jr lineup.
