Oka Kura Japanese Bermutto is a 720ml, 18% ABV Japanese sweet vermouth from Oka Kura, made at the Tsutsumi Distillery in Kumamoto, a family shochu house since 1873. Instead of grape wine, Bermutto is built on a base of junmai sake, then infused with Japanese botanicals including yuzu, sansho pepper and kabosu alongside traditional vermouth herbs and wormwood.
The result is velvety and balanced, harmonizing sweet and herbal notes with a distinctly Japanese citrus and umami character. Serve it on the rocks as an aperitif, or use it to bring a new dimension to a Manhattan or Negroni.
