Oka Kura Yuzu Liqueur is a 720ml, 24% ABV Japanese citrus liqueur from Oka Kura, made at the Tsutsumi Distillery in Kumamoto, a family shochu house since 1873. Fresh yuzu peel is macerated overnight in a neutral rice spirit and distilled in a pot still, then the base is macerated a further three weeks with more fresh yuzu peel.
The aroma is fresh yuzu peel oil and candied lemon, and the plucky palate balances light acidity with white flower highlights before a finish of delicate violet and a touch of tannin. A silky rendering of Japan's beloved citrus, it shines in a shochu or sake sour, a yuzu highball or a splash in sparkling wine.
