Breckenridge PX Cask Finish is the Colorado distillery's award-winning bourbon finished in retired Pedro Ximénez sherry barrels acquired from a centuries-old solera in Andalusia, Spain. PX is a luscious dessert wine made from sun-shriveled raisins and aged for decades in solera, and its barrels are soaked with dense, syrupy fruit. Breckenridge Distillery, at 9,600 feet in the Rockies, filled them with its rich, spicy high-rye bourbon.
The whiskey emerged with complex layers of fig compote, orange marmalade, and licorice complementing its sweet oak and vanilla character. Well-rounded aromas of fig compote, almond butter, and black licorice lead to rich, full-bodied flavors of orange marmalade and Madagascar vanilla bean, with a long finish of sweet oak and ripe sultanas and perfectly balanced heat.
