Exotico Reposado Tequila
Exotico is a 100% blue Weber agave tequila made by the Gonzalez family in Jalisco and brought to the United States by Luxco, and the Reposado is the brand's aged expression. Its agave comes from both the highlands and the lowlands of Jalisco, and the tequila is produced under NOM 1603 in Los Altos, double distilled, and bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof). For the reposado, the tequila is rested for six months in white oak ex-bourbon barrels, a longer stay than many reposados get and enough to take on real color and character from the wood. The brand describes a blend of vanilla, dried fruit and spice alongside oak and caramel, and tasters on Tequila Matchmaker most often point to black pepper, caramel and cinnamon. Reviewers consistently call it an excellent value, with the reposado singled out for more complexity than its price suggests. It is a natural for a reposado margarita, a Paloma, or a tequila and soda, and it holds up over ice for an easy weeknight pour.
