KISS Detroit Rock Rum
KISS Detroit Rock Rum is a premium dark rum from the KISS spirits range, named for "Detroit Rock City," the opening track of the band's 1976 album Destroyer. The lineup was developed with the Swedish company Brands For Fans, which worked with the band on the taste profile and packaging, and launched in the U.S. in 25 states in 2021 alongside Black Diamond Rum, the ultra-aged Monstrum, and Cold Gin. Detroit Rock is a blend of Dominican Republic rums aged 8 to 15 years and bottled at 90 proof, a step up in strength from the 80-proof Black Diamond. Drinkhacker's review found a rich nose of sweet brown sugar, cherry juice, coffee bean, vanilla syrup, chocolate, and well-toasted marshmallow; a sweet, winey palate with Madeira and tawny Port notes, liquid caramel, and burnt marshmallow; and a toasty finish with overripe apple and strawberry, scoring it a B+. The reviewer suggested mixing rather than sipping neat, so try it in a rum old fashioned, a dark and stormy, or with cola. A fun bottle for any KISS fan, and a well-made Dominican rum blend in its own right.
