Pampero Aniversario Reserva Exclusiva Añejo Rum

Pampero was founded in Venezuela in 1938 by two friends who pushed oak aging further than local rum makers of the time, and their results are credited with persuading the government to change the country's rum-making laws to raise quality. Aniversario was created in 1963 to mark the company's 25th anniversary. It is a blend drawn from Pampero's Reserva Exclusiva stocks aged in oak; there is no official age statement, though the blend is generally understood to be built from rums of roughly four to six years in ex-bourbon casks. It is bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof) in the squat, rounded bottle that comes in its embossed leather pouch, the same presentation it has carried since launch. The brand is owned today by Diageo. Pampero describes it as powerful, complex, heavy and rich, with vanilla, raisin, sherry, cinnamon, chocolate, tobacco, leather, treacle, creamy pudding and brown sugar.
