The Bitter Truth Pimento Dram is an allspice liqueur with heritage, from The Bitter Truth, the Munich company founded in 2006 by bartenders Stephan Berg and Alexander Hauck. It is made from Jamaican rum, sugarcane and selected pimento berries, the Jamaican allspice that English explorers named for tasting of cinnamon, pepper, nutmeg and clove all at once.
The color of a treasure chest, it climbs a ladder of flavor from clove to cinnamon, nutmeg and star anise, finishing with hot smoked maple syrup and dry cardamom. Highly aromatic, it is built for cocktails: a Lion's Tail with bourbon, a rum punch, a Zombie or a hot buttered rum.
