The Bitter Truth Pink Gin comes from the German bitters house founded by bartenders Stephan Berg and Alexander Hauck, and it revives the Royal Navy tradition of blending gin with bitters, originally a cure for seasickness. It combines a traditionally crafted dry gin of juniper, lemon, licorice, caraway and fennel with The Bitter Truth's own bitters, which give it its salmon-pink hue and a spiced edge. It is bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof).
Drinkhacker rated it a B+ (8.5/10), finding a familiar juniper-forward nose with orange peel and coriander, then strawberry, black pepper, rhubarb and bitter spice on the palate and a finish of vanilla and salted caramel, and recommended it both neat and in gin cocktails. The Bitter Truth describes a Mediterranean bouquet of juniper, fresh lemon and warm spice with a gentle mouthfeel. It makes a superb Pink Gin cocktail, a spiced G&T or a Martini with attitude.
