Transcontinental Rum Line 6 Years Old 2015 Barbados Rum

Transcontinental Rum Line is the independent rum label of La Maison du Whisky, the Paris importer founded by Georges Bénitah in 1956. The line launched in 2016 around one idea: every label states how long the rum aged in its home climate and how long in Europe, rather than hiding that split behind a single age number, since tropical heat and a cool French warehouse shape a cask in very different ways. This Barbados 2015 is a molasses rum blended from pot still and Coffey column still distillate, the classic Bajan combination that gives the island's rums their balance of structure, lightness and depth. It was distilled in 2015 and aged in ex-bourbon casks, five of its six years spent in the tropical climate of Barbados, and bottled at six years old at 55% ABV in a 700ml bottle. Like the rest of the line it carries no added sugar, with a measured sugar content of zero grams per liter, and no coloring. A limited release of Barbados pot-and-column rum at a higher proof than the big house brands bottle it.
