Stagg Bourbon Whiskey Batch 25C (125.6 Proof)

Stagg Batch 25C is the third and final 2025 release of Buffalo Trace's uncut, unfiltered barrel-proof bourbon, the sibling to the Antique Collection's George T. Stagg and simply Stagg since the Jr. came off the label in 2022. It was bottled at 125.6 proof, 62.8% ABV, the lowest proof of any Stagg release to date, which on paper sounds like less but in the glass means a batch that shows more fruit and less of the heavy caramel-and-char wallop the brand is famous for. Like every Stagg it comes from Buffalo Trace's low-rye Mash Bill #1, the recipe behind Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare and E.H. Taylor, matured in new charred oak in the distillery's Frankfort warehouses for roughly eight years, and bottled straight from the barrel with no chill filtration and nothing added. Hedonism Wines' tasting of 25C found grape, apricot and toffee on the nose, a spicy core of cinnamon and tannic oak on the palate, and a medicinal cherry finish, calling it lighter and more fruit-forward than a typical Stagg; other retailer notes add dark caramel, black cherry, vanilla, molasses, dark chocolate and charred oak with a long, warm finish.
