Flor de Caña bottled this to mark 130 years of continuous rum production since 1890, and Maestro Ronero Tomás Cano — with more than 35 years perfecting the craft — hand-selected 20-year-old small bourbon barrels from the Family Reserve to build it. Those barrels aged at the base of the active San Cristóbal volcano in Chichigalpa, Nicaragua, where the volcanic microclimate drives intense heat and accelerates spirit-wood interaction, producing unusual concentration for the age. No added sugar, no artificial ingredients, Carbon Neutral and Fair Trade certified. Bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV), notably above the 40% standard across the range. Wine Enthusiast awarded it 96 points. Expect intense copper color with nutmeg, black pepper, hazelnut, pineapple, and caramel on the nose, opening into a full-bodied palate of dark chocolate, caramel, toasted nuts, dried fruit, and vanilla, finishing long and drying on burnt oak.
