Cali Creamin' is the flagship beer of Mother Earth Brew Co., the brewery Daniel Love, Jon Love, and Kamron Khannakhjavani founded in Vista in North County in 2010, which has since added a second brewery in Nampa, Idaho. The beer started as a one-off for Khannakhjavani's wedding in September 2011, when the team set out to take a fairly plain base style, the American cream ale, and dress it up, and the name is a nod to the Mamas & the Papas song California Dreamin', which was playing while they brewed it. The twist is vanilla: Madagascar vanilla beans are cut up and added to the finished beer in the fermenter, where they sit for a few days until they give just the right amount of flavor. The brewery describes it as golden to pale in color, with low bitterness, medium body, and a white head, with the vanilla giving it a cream soda kick while the beer still finishes dry. It comes in at 5% ABV and 19 IBU, and it is brewed year-round. This 6-pack of cans is an easy pick for the beach or the cooler, and it pairs well with barbecue, burgers, and desserts.
