Mother Earth Brew Co. started with three homebrewers in a garage in 2008, became a family-run brewery in Vista, California by 2010, and added a second brewery in Nampa, Idaho in 2016, distributing through roughly 40 wholesalers in 18 states. Milk Truck joined the lineup in March 2021, released in 12-ounce cans and on limited draft. It's a latte stout brewed with roasted malts, vanilla, coffee, lactose and oats, the lactose and oats giving it a soft, creamy body and the coffee and vanilla pulling it toward the coffeehouse drink it's named for. Director of Brewing Operations Chris Baker described the goal plainly: a really approachable beer that's soft and drinkable, one that favors drinkability and broad appeal over strict style rules and skips the aggressive roast of a typical dark ale. In the brewery's words it drinks like the coffeehouse favorite while still reminding you it's an adult beverage, finishing with coffee and cocoa. It's bottled at 5.8% ABV, light enough for more than one.
