The Glenlivet 25 Year Old Sample Room Collection is the current presentation of the oldest expression in the core range from the distillery George Smith founded in 1824 as the first licensed distillery in the Livet valley. Named for the sample room where every cask is nosed and approved, it uses some of the rarest whiskies in the distillery's warehouses, all aged at least 25 years, batch-produced and finished in ex-Oloroso sherry butts under the watch of the distillery's experts.
Bottled at 86 proof, its molten amber color is nearly as splendid to hold as it is to drink. The nose drives whisky lovers to distraction with bittersweet dark chocolate and plump, sweet sultana, then a velvety palate of ripe orange, honeyed fig, toasted almond, cinnamon and nutmeg with the subtlest sherry tones, finishing incredibly long, rich and balanced. Presented in a wooden case, it is a sublime choice to mark a special occasion and a collector's Glenlivet.
