MacNair's 15 Years Old Exploration Rum

The 15 Year Old is molasses rum initially matured in American oak in Panama's tropical climate, then shipped to the GlenAllachie distillery, blended by Walker, and given a secondary maturation in a combination of red wine, virgin oak, and ex-bourbon casks, bottled at 46% ABV with natural color and no chill filtration. Fifteen years, most of it in the tropics, is a long time for light Panamanian rum, and the finishing casks add structure: Master of Malt found cooked banana and warming oak with orange zest and fresh pineapple giving it levity. Expect a nose of dried banana, apricot, caramel, and toasted oak with the red-wine cask's dark berry, opening into a rich, rounded, oak-driven palate of toffee, tropical fruit, baking spice, and cocoa with more tannin and depth than the 7, finishing long and warm.
