Product Type: Gin
Size: 750mL
Region: USA
Description: To create our unique gin, we looked to the orange orchards on the rolling hills of Santa Catarina, Brazil. The region has a long history of cultivating green and red mandarin oranges, which are harvested at different times of the year and have distinct flavors. When the mandarin oranges are harvested in September, they are green in color and have an aromatic peel that is used in cuisines around the world. When they are harvested in late December, they are reddish in color and have a floral and intense citrus aroma similar to tangerines. At Leopold Bros. distillery, we distill the green and red mandarin oranges separately and then blend the two distillates together in the final gin. This allows the contrasting flavors to work together, combining citrus and floral notes with a piquant finish. We also add earthy and savory notes to the gin using orris root, juniper, Sri Lankan white pepper, and South African rooibos tea. The result is a truly unique and flavorful gin.
