Isle of Raasay Hebridean Gin
Isle of Raasay Hebridean Gin is made at the Isle of Raasay Distillery, the first legal distillery on the small Hebridean island off Skye, better known for its single malt Scotch. The gin is triple-distilled with ten botanicals, including Raasay juniper, rhubarb, orange peel and other island ingredients, and bottled at 46% ABV (92 proof) in a 700ml bottle whose glass is embossed with the fossils found in the island's rocks.
88 Bamboo described strong piney juniper with subtle zesty citrus on the nose, orange peel and rhubarb on the palate and a lovely smooth finish, and called it a smooth, mellow gin. That coastal balance of juniper, sea air and orchard fruit makes it a superb G&T with a slice of orange, and it is elegant enough for a Martini. For fans of Raasay's whisky, it is the same island in a different glass.
