South Sister is named for the youngest of the Three Sisters, the volcanic peaks that tower over Sisters, Oregon — and the gin tastes like the high desert at their feet. Brother-and-sister team Nick and Katie Beasley founded Cascade Street Distillery in 2015, restoring the old Barclay barn plank by plank into a distillery and tasting room, with mountain spring water born of Cascade snowmelt as the foundation of everything they make. The gin starts from a citrus-forward corn base and a classic bill of juniper, coriander, orris, angelica, cardamom, licorice, grains of paradise, and citrus peel, then adds what's growing outside the door: hand-picked juniper berries, desert sage, and Ponderosa pine pods, whose sugary sap gives an intense pine flavor with a sweet, citrusy aftertaste. The faint golden hue comes entirely from those fresh, all-natural botanicals. Proofed with Deschutes County water to 43.25% ABV.
