Architect is a California Cabernet project from Broadbent Selections, the import and wine company founded by Bartholomew Broadbent in 1996. The label honors his father, the late Michael Broadbent, the legendary Master of Wine and Christie's auctioneer who trained as an architect before devoting his life to wine. The name signals the house philosophy: structure, balance and proportion over sheer power.

The Architect Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon we carry comes from two vineyards in Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, where 10- to 15-year-old vines grow on rocky and loam soils. The blend is Cabernet Sauvignon rounded out with small amounts of Petite Sirah, Malbec and Merlot. After a cold soak and stainless-steel fermentation, the wine ages in a mix of French and American oak barrels and is bottled at 14.5% ABV. James Suckling scored it 90 points, praising lush dark berry fruit with smooth, beautifully integrated tannins. It is a generous, well-built Sonoma Cabernet that drinks well on release.
