Planteray is the rum house of Maison Ferrand, the producer behind Pierre Ferrand Cognac and Citadelle gin. Alexandre Gabriel launched it in 1999 as Plantation Rum and renamed it Planteray in January 2024; the liquid did not change. The signature is double ageing: each rum matures in the tropics, then finishes in Ferrand's cooler French cellars, often in Cognac casks. Gabriel works with more than 20 distillers and owns West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados, founded in 1893, where the team restored one of the oldest rum stills still running.
