Clase Azul is the tequila in the hand-painted ceramic decanter. Arturo Lomeli founded it in 1997 while running a bar in Guadalajara, and the bottles are still hand-shaped and painted by artisans in Santa María Canchesda using Mazahua techniques, at least two weeks per decanter. The tequila is 100 percent blue Weber agave from the Jalisco highlands, harvested at six to eight years, slow-cooked in masonry ovens, fermented with a proprietary yeast, double distilled in copper stills, and oak-aged for the Reposado and Añejo. The Reposado is the flagship; the Ultra is the extra añejo at the top of the range. Clase Azul also makes mezcal from different states, including Durango (wild Cenizo agave) and Guerrero.
