Springbank is one of the most sought-after single malts in Scotland and one of only three survivors from the thirty-plus distilleries that once ran in Campbeltown. Founded in 1828 and owned by the Mitchell family through J & A Mitchell & Co ever since, it is the only Scottish distillery that floor-malts every grain of barley it uses, with water drawn from Crosshill Loch. Three whiskies come off the same stills: Springbank, distilled two and a half times; Longrow, malted for 48 hours over a peat fire and double distilled; and Hazelburn, unpeated and triple distilled. Output is tiny and every release is allocated.
