Cardenxe is a small-batch sotol brand founded by Italian-Mexican music producer Luigi Ambrosi, who discovered the spirit in Durango while recording canto cardenche, the near-extinct a cappella folk singing of northern Mexico that gives the brand its name. Its labels draw on Estridentismo, the 1920s Mexican avant-garde movement, and the brand launched online in the United States in 2022 through Park Street Imports.

Sotol is distilled from the heart of the Dasylirion plant, not agave, and carries a denomination of origin covering Chihuahua, Durango and Coahuila. Cardenxe is built around terroir: each expression comes from a different landscape and a different local sotolero, using wild-harvested plants cooked in earth ovens, fermented in wood and double distilled in copper. The founders spent two months visiting distilleries across the three sotol regions before selecting their producers. Sotol de la Sierra won Gold and Sotol de Desierto Silver at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and the brand also holds a Platinum SIP Award.

The range comprises Desierto, a three-species ensamble from the Chihuahuan Desert near Aldama; Pradera, a Dasylirion cedrosanum from the Durango prairie made at a solar-powered hacienda; and Sierra, a Dasylirion wheeleri from the mountains of Madera.
