Dos Hombres started with a road trip. Breaking Bad co-stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul spent months traveling through Oaxaca looking for a mezcal worth their names, eventually finding it in San Luis del Río — a village in the foothills of the Sierra Madre with generations of mezcal tradition — and partnering with mezcalero Gregorio Velasco to launch the brand in 2019. The flagship Joven Espadín is made from agave grown six to eight years, roasted in underground pit ovens for seven to ten days, milled, naturally fermented, and distilled with mountain spring water at 42% ABV. A premium Tobalá followed in 2020, made from the rare, slow-growing wild agave. In 2026 the brand expanded into tequila, and did it seriously: after evaluating seven distilleries they settled on Tequilera Tap (NOM 1614) in Amatitán — the additive-free facility behind Cazcanes, Tres Agaves, and Inspiro — and brought maestro tequilero Julio Cova out of a nearly 40-year retirement to produce it. The Blanco earned genuine praise from agave critics as a standout among celebrity tequilas, joined by a Reposado rested four months in first-fill ex-Four Roses bourbon barrels, with an Añejo slated for 2027. Approachable, well-made agave spirits with real people and real palenques behind them.
