Foley Johnson was founded in 2012 when Bill Foley acquired the former Provenance Vineyards property on Highway 29 in the heart of Rutherford and named it for himself and his wife, Carol Johnson Foley. The winery sits on the Rutherford Bench with estate vineyards planted to Bordeaux varieties on the famous Rutherford dust, the gravelly loam that gives the appellation its earthy, fine-grained tannins.
The estate Cabernets are the flagship wines. The Foley Johnson Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and the Estate Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon are both built on a core of about 83% Cabernet Sauvignon with 15% Petit Verdot and touches of Cabernet Franc and Malbec, aged in French oak barrels and bottled around 15% ABV. The winemaking team describes striking aromas of black cherry, plum, blackberry and tobacco with hints of strawberry, brown sugar and forest floor, then a palate of blackberry, dark chocolate and cocoa powder with medium-rich tannins and a long, velvety finish. Recent vintages have earned 93 points from critic Owen Bargreen and attention from Decanter.
It is estate-grown Rutherford Cabernet with the plush, dusty signature the bench is famous for. Browse our full Foley Johnson collection with fast nationwide shipping delivered straight to your door.
